satellite euchems 2023On 6th September 2023, the satellite event of LEVANTE project related to biorefineries with a focus on that of levulinic acid in collaboration with GFBiochemicals https://gfbio.co/ was organized. In particular, Prof. Carmine Capacchione, Director of the Department of Chemistry and Biology of University of Salerno, and Prof. Raffaele Cucciniello, Scientific supervisor of UNISA unit, opened the conference characterized by academic and industrial lectures. The first Keynote Lecture was performed by Prof. Claudia Antonetti of University of Pisa, the Principal Investigator of the Project LEVANTE (LEvulinic acid VAlorization through New advanced Technologies), showing the project summary, the timetable, the goals, the expected outcomes and the preliminary results. After that presentation, the second Lecture was perfored by Dr. Rudy Parton together with Dr. Giuseppina Carotenuto, both of the GFBiochemicals company that endorses our project, about “Levulinates: Company profile, our mission and application overview”. Successively, Prof. Luigi Vaccaro of University of Perugia gave his contribution to the satellite event with a presentation about the use of flow technologies for green processes, titled “Flow technologies to green synthesis and catalysis”. The subsequent Lecture was given by Prof. Volker Hessel of University of Adelaide (Australia) about the application of plasma technology in the pespective of sustainability, whose title was “Plasma-activated water -sustainability opportunity for fertigation in farming”. At the end of the oral presentations, the discussion was open, resulting very fruitful for all the participants.
