  • Prof.ssa Claudia Antonetti (ORCID: 0000-0003-3883-2753)
Associate Professor at the University of Pisa in Industrial Chemistry since 2018, she got in 2010 at Scuola Normale Superiore her “Perfezionamento” (equivalent to PhD) in Chemistry during which she spent 6 months at the University of Cambridge (UK). In addition, in 2015 she got the master IMES, master in bioenergy and environment. Her research activity is mainly focused on applied catalysis and on sustainable chemistry in the biomass field. In particular, from one side, she has worked on the synthesis and characterization of active and selective heterogeneous catalysts and their applications in industrial chemical reactions. Moreover, from the other side, her interest is also related to the complete conversion and valorization of biomasses towards value-added platform chemicals, in the perspective of green chemistry, taking also advantage of chemometric approaches. She is involved in different Regional, National and European projects and she has also established collaborations with companies. She is authored more than 60 peer reviewed research papers, 1 book chapter, 1 patent and 1 patent application with more than 1900 citations.

  • Dr. Nicola Scotti (ORCID: 0000-0001-8833-2242)
Researcher at SCITEC-CNR since November 2018, he got his master’s degree in Chemical Science in October 2008 and his PhD in Industrial Chemistry in January 2012. His research activity is mainly focused on the preparation and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts for the transformation of platform molecules derived from renewable feedstock, within the concepts of sustainability and biorefinery. In particular, he works on the development of cascade processes based on hydrogenation, transfer-hydrogenation, oxidation and acid-base reactions, through the design of multifunctional heterogeneous catalysts, primarily based on oxides and mixed-oxides (e.g. SiO2, ZrO2, ZrO2-SiO2), and non-noble metals (e.g. Cu). During his research activity he maturated an excellent expertise in the characterization of heterogeneous catalysts and especially in the use of probe molecules (pyridine, CO, CO2, alcohols, reactants, and intermediates) in infrared spectroscopy. On 2017 he received the Young Investigator Award in Green Chemistry from DSCTM-CNR. He co-authored more than 35 peer reviewed research papers and he has more than 650 citations.

  • Dr. Vincenzo Russo (ORCID: 0000-0002-1867-739X)
Assistant professor (RTDb) at the University of Naples Federico II since November 2019, he got his PhD in Chemical Sciences in May 2014 (UniNa), and in Chemical Engineering in September 2017 (ÅboAkademi). His research activity can be summarized as “Bridging the Fundamentals of Molecular Phenomena with Modern Concepts of Chemical Reactor Engineering”.The research topics are treated with methodology, starting from the investigation of the chemical and physical phenomena occurring in the reaction network. Detailed kinetic investigations are carried out, describing quantitatively the experimental data in lab-scale reactors, both continuous and discontinuous. The kinetic models are based on the investigation of both the physical properties of the catalysts tested (homogeneous or heterogeneous)and the mass and heat transfer phenomena involved in the reaction network. Advanced reactor modelling activity leads to the design and optimization of pilot-scale chemical plants, allowing the scale-up of the overall process. Novel reactor concepts are tested and designed with the aim of optimizing and intensifying the chemical plant (i.e. reactive chromatography, microreactors). He authored more than 100peer reviewed research papers and he has more than 1100 citations.

  • Dr. Tommaso Tabanelli (ORCID: 0000-0003-0616-8990)
Assistant professor (now RTDb) at the Industrial Chemistry Department “Toso Montanari” of the University of Bologna since March 2019, he got his PhD in Chemistry in 2016. For his work he was awarded with the “Best Ph.D Thesis Award” (2017 edition) focused in the field of the Industrial Chemistry, sponsored by the Italian Industrial Chemistry Division. Since 2016, he has worked on the development of innovative catalytic processes in particular aiming to the valorisation of biomass and biomass derived compounds both in batch and in continuous-flow reactor systems. He authored 40 scientific papers, 6 book chapters and 8 patents applications with more than 490 citations. He was recently awarded with the Robert Karl Grasselli memorial award (2021 ed.) for the results obtained in the field of heterogeneous catalysis applied in continuous-flow, gas-phase processes and with the Galileo Galilei Giovani international award (2021 ed.) for the results obtained in the field of Sustainable Chemistry and Environmental Science, sponsored by Rotary.

  • Dr. Raffaele Cucciniello (ORCID: 0000-0002-3291-7273)
Assistant professor (RTDb) at the department of Chemistry and Biology of the University of Salerno since January 2020, he got his PhD in Chemical Sciences in 2015. Since 2015, his research activity is mainly focused on the valorization of bio-based feedstocks to value added chemicals, catalytic elimination of the main environmental pollutants using mixed oxides Mg-Al, green analytical chemistry and benign-by-design preparation of new active catalysts for environmental remediation with particular emphasis on innovative solutions and processes for water and wastewater treatment. He authored 60 scientific papers, 1 book chapter and 2 patents applications with more than 700 citations. He was recently awarded with the “Alfredo di Braccio” award (2020 ed.) from the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and he is a founding member and member of the administrative board (CdA) of the Academic Spin-off and Innovative Start-up company named AOP4WATER s.r.l. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy (Elsevier).
