gic genova 2023In 2023, the results of LEVANTE project were showed at the GIC 2023 conference, where the research units presented their findings both orally and as posters. Specifically, the Principal Investigator Claudia Antonetti (UNIPI) delivered the oral presentation “Sustainable synthesis of biomass-derived catalysts: hydrochars and pyrochars in the perspective of acid applications”, highlighting the achievements in the synthesis of acid catalysts derived from biomass. The research unit in Napoli presented their accomplished results in the oral presentation “Catalytic screening and kinetic investigation for DPA synthesis” about the production of diphenolic acid with commercial catalysts, and in the posters about “Heterogeneous catalysts for the ketalization of ethyl levulinate with glycerol”, “Synthesis of methyl-levulinate catalyzed by an ion-exchange resin: a kinetic investigation” and “Synthesis of biosurfactants from ketals of ethyl levulinate”. Meanwhile, the research unit in Bologna shows the study on the synthesis of C5 and C7 esters from levulinic acid and levulinic esters through continuous processes in the gas phase with the oral presentation “Beyond -valerolactone: from levulinic esters to C5 and C7 esters through innovative continuous-flow processes in the gas phase”. Finally, CNR-SCITEC.MI shows the results about the hydrocyclization of levulinic esters to γ-valerolactone with the poster “Hydrocyclization of levulinic esters to γ-valerolactone using ZrO2-based catalysts via catalytic transfer hydrogenation”.
