During 7-8 th November 2022, the results of the LEVANTE project were introduced at the XXII National Congress of Industrial Chemistry, held in Catania. Prof. Claudia Antonetti has shown the synthesis and the characterization of hydrochars and pyrochars as biomass-derived catalysts which will be further functionalized and employed, as acid catalysts, for the valorization of levulinic acid, in particular for its conversion to diphenolic acid, in agreement with the objectives of the project LEVANTE. Prof. V. Russo presented the results regarding ethyl levulinate ketalization with glycerol in the presence of H-Y zeolite for a possible scale-up procedure to produce these ketals in a continuous device, which represents another important target of the project LEVANTE.
